Downhill Bike Frame
Downhill mountain biking generally requires a different
type of bike than more conventional cross-country riding. A downhill
bike frame is generally built to be sturdy rather than light, due to
the stresses of fast descents and drops down rough mountain trails.
Downhill bikes aren’t designed for climbing – they feature
heavy suspension in order to smooth out the bumps inherent in the steep
trails they are designed for. This means that climbing on a downhill
bike frame will be much more difficult due to the weight of the bike
and the suspension. Generally downhill riders drive or push their bikes
to the top of the hill because of this.
